'Spectacular' Trueman Euphonium crowned Champion at 2011 National Limousin Show

The 2011 National Limousin Show lived up to its billing as the ‘Super Saturday’ centerpiece of the National Limousin Weekend held to celebrate the breed and British Limousin Cattle Society’s 40th anniversary year in the United Kingdom.

Played out in front of a packed ringside audience of domestic and international visitors, the pedigree show provided the stage for the very best of British Limousin breeding from breeders representative of all four home countries.  The National Limousin Show, the first held in the UK since 2004, provided the highest level of competition with championship and prize-winning animals from the year’s major shows, along with top priced sale animals and young stock full of potential, going head to head for the titles on offer and a prize fund of £20,000.

Bringing a memorable day to conclusion, the two-year-old heifer Trueman Euphonium was crowned the 2011 National Limousin Show Supreme Overall Pedigree Champion for Henry Savage. This July 2009 born heifer is by the one-time Semenstore best-seller Wilodge Vantastic who featured heavily among the awards also siring the Overall Supreme Reserve & Female Champion, Withersdale Empress.  .

In the bulls, the Championship title went to Hartlaw Excaliber, an AI son of the prolific 30,000gns Wilodge Tonka who is the sire of Wilodge Vantastic. Placing Overall Reserve Male Champion and Junior Male Champion was Wilodge Fastrac, an AI son of Wilodge Vantastic. A strong day for the Wilodge team saw the April 2010 born Wilodge Funky, by the 50,000gns Wilodge Cerberus, place Reserve Junior Female Champion.

The Senior Champion Female went to the Limousin cow Brickhill Carol who was shown with her heifer calf at foot, Rosecroft Goldengirl, who is by the 35,000gns Grahams Unbeatable. Taking the Reserve in this section was Dinmore Daffodil, another Vantastic daughter, from Paul Dawes who was shown with her Procters Duvalier sired heifer calf at foot.  Dinmore Foxy, another by Procters Duvalier was a further red ticket winner.

Whilst semen is no longer available from Wilodge Vantastic, several of his sons are available on the Semenstore website, namely Milbrook Dartangan, Goldies Comet, Carmorn Copilot and Ironstone Colonel (coming soon). Wilodge Vantastic’s sire, Wilodge Tonka, remains a proven best seller on www.semenstore.co.uk.
