Bel Dhu Capercaillie semen now available worldwide

Semen from the 45,000gns Bel Dhu Capercaillie, the UK record-selling Simmental bull, has gone on sale exclusively through the e-commerce Semenstore.co.uk.

This June 2011-born bull set a new Simmental breed benchmark, smashing the previous record, when going under the hammer at the Stirling bull sales in February 2013 to joint purchasers Corskie Simmentals and Smallburn Farms.

Bel Dhu Capercaillie, whose semen qualifies worldwide, now joins a portfolio of bulls including all the major beef breeds, available through the on-line semen website www.semenstore.co.uk.

Boasting a pedigree packed with the very best of British Simmental bloodlines, this bull is the result of a lifetime’s work for breeders the MacPherson Family, Blackford Simmentals.  Capercaillie is sired by Hockenhull Waterloo and is out of Blackford Wagtail.  With a phenotype to match combining power, depth and overall balance, the semen - priced at £35+VAT per straw - is expected to move quickly across the UK and also meet an anticipated export demand.

Born, raised and residing in the North of Scotland, the future looks bright for this exceptional bull offered by Morayshire-based joint owners Corskie Simmentals, and Smallburn Farms.

Bel Dhu Cappercaillie is one of a list of top bulls headlining the new All Breeds section of the Semenstore site.  Semenstore was launched in 2009 with an offering of Limousin semen, followed by British Blue bulls in 2010.  With the growing success of the site, Semenstore has now launched an All Breeds offering that includes a selection of Angus, Blonde, Charolais, Devon, Hereford, Parthenais, Shorthorn and Simmental bulls. Semenstore continues to advance its Limousin portfolio with recent high profile additions such as Ampertaine Gigolo and the record breaking 120,000gns Dolcorsllwyn Fabio.

Semenstore’s Livestock and Genetics Specialist, Steve Jones, says: “It’s a very exciting time in our industry at present with concentration required on production efficiency, consistency of product, and all-round traits of economic importance.  All of this can be influenced by sire selection. Our job is to locate and contract the very best privately-owned bulls of all breeds, selected for their exceptional type, pedigree and a positive set of performance figures. We are delighted to have added Bel Dhu Capercaillie to what has grown into an exciting portfolio suitable for all markets.”
