Ampertaine Gigolo coming to Semenstore

Limousin Bull sells to Holland in Significant Five-figure Deal.

A half share in the Limousin bull Ampertaine Gigolo has been sold by breeders WJ & J McKay, Kilrea Road, Upperlands, Maghera, Co Derry, N Ireland to the Dutch Limousin Company Cowporation, Resedahof, Alblasserdam, Holland for an undisclosed sum.

The seventeen-month-old Ampertaine Gigolo had been entered into the British Limousin Cattle Society (BLCS) Carlisle 2013 May Sale, but a recent trip to Northern Ireland by Mr Teus Dekker of Cowporation meant a deal was done privately, with the bull now being prepared for semen collection and subsequent marketing through pending the required health tests.

Although the price remains confidential between buyer and seller, it has been confirmed that it eclipses the herd record 38,000gns which previously stood for Ampertaine Foreman who sold at Carlisle in February 2012. It also represents a record price paid by Cowporation.

This sale adds to a growing portfolio of bulls and females purchased both privately and at BLCS Sales on behalf of Cowporation. Breeder James McKay said: "This is one of the best bulls I've bred to date and certainly the fastest growing with a tremendous weight gain of 765kg at 400 days."

Ampertaine Gigolo (Beef Value LM+44) combines some very interesting bloodlines with the sire being the prolific Ampertaine Commander (Supreme Champion Carlisle May 2009 when realising 20,000gns) with his dam the powerful Ronick Gains cow, Ampertaine Crystal, who is out of the dam Kype Ultra, mother of the 24,000gns Ampertaine Bravo.

Commenting, Teus Dekker said: "Ampertaine Gigolo has everything you want in a Limousin bull: enormous width right from the back through to his front, exceptional volume, and powerful strength without losing any of his elegance and style. Standing on four very good legs, he is exceptionally square on his plates and very clean right through."
