Semenstore February 2012 sales round up

The record trade at the British Limousin Cattle Society’s CARLISLE February sale which set a new world Limousin mark 120,000gns, saw Semenstore bulls feature strongly in the leading prices. Dolcorsllwyn Fabio, the new record holder, follows Wilodge Cerberus to the Whinfellpark herd of Allan Jenkinson, Clifton Moor Farm, Penrith. 

Going under the hammer for 38,000gns was Ampertaine Foreman, the Reserve Junior & Reserve Overall Champion, setting a new Northern Ireland all-breeds record. Sired by the aforementioned Wilodge Cerberus, Foreman is out of Ampertaine Bathsheba - a full sister to the dam of the 20,000gns Ampertaine Commander, Supreme Champion at Carlisle May 2009. 

Second in his class to the Overall Champion was Ampertaine Fieldmarshall also from vendor James McKay, who sold for 14,000gns. This bull is by the 29,000gns Ampertaine Abracadabra.

At 30,000gns was Goldies Black Forever, setting a new UK & European record mark for a black Limousin. Both homozygous polled and homozygous black (meaning all progeny will be both black and polled), this bull also has excellent figures (Beef Value LM+43). Also from Bruce Goldie, Goldies First sold for 15,000gns being by the prolific 42,000gns Wilodge Vantastic and out of Goldies Vitality. Goldies First is a full brother to the 23,000gns Goldies Comet.  He was sold with a Beef Value of LM+43.

A & J Gammie made 15,500gns of their August born calf Westpit Fendt.  This bull is by the French sire Vagabond, whose progeny have previously sold up to 27,000gn and was sold sporting a Beef Value of LM+45.

Rachels Ferrari went on to sell for 15,000gns for vendor D & MLP Woolhouse.  April 2010 born, Ferrari is by the AI sire Mas Du Clo and is out of Rachels Tulip who is also the dam of their homebred herd sire, Rachels Dynamite.

At 14,000gns was Plumtree Filbert from Paul Cairns, being by Cloughhead Umpire and out of the noted Bankdale Amber who is dam of the £40,000 Plumtree Fantastic and the 35,000gns Plumtree Deus. Plumtree Farley, from the same consignor, made 13,000gns and is also out of Bankdale Amber and is full brother to the £40,000 Plumtree Fantastic.

The show’s Reserve Senior Champion, Wilodge Firefly, made 14,000gns for breeder Miss C Williams.  An April 2010 bull, Firefly is an embryo calf by Wilodge Cerberus.  Wilodge Firefly is a full brother to Wilodge Funky who, in 2011, was Reserve Overall Junior Heifer Champion at both the Royal Welsh Show and the National Limousin Show.  

The Carmorn Copilot son, and Reserve Intermediate Champion, Culnagechan Fantastic, realised 13,000gns for Mr D Hume when going under the hammer to DR & RL Burns.

At the STIRLING February Sale, Wilodge Vantastic breeding featured heavily as sire of two of the section winners including the Overall Supreme Elrick Falcon (12,000gns) from Mr MJ Massie. The other was Stephick Flashi, the day’s Junior Champion, from exhibitor Stephanie Dick, who made 10,500gns. Both were sold to the noted commercial herds of Peter Alexander and Corrie Farms respectively.

From Messrs Oag, Brims Flashman , an AI calf by the 50,000gns Wilodge Cerberus, had earlier secured the Intermediate Section and Overall Reserve Supreme before being knocked down for 7,200gns. At 7,500gns was the day’s Reserve Intermediate Champion, Spittalton Franco, from J Burnett & Sons.  This shapely bull is by Spittalton Chopper, a Normande Tuscan son. Also at 7,500gns was Haltcliffe Franco from Messrs Ridley, who is out of a Goldies Terence daughter.
